Ravens running back Derrick Henry is not expected to be moved before the NFL trade deadline, league sources told ESPN. Baltimore recently informed Henry that it has no intention of trading him before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline, according to league sources.

The decision would end speculation surrounding Henry, who has made five Pro Bowls. Questions had developed in recent weeks about whether Baltimore might consider dealing the running back as the deadline approached.

Some suggestions connected Henry to two of his former head coaches. John Harbaugh is in New York, while Mike Vrabel is in New England, but there is no direct evidence that either coach asked about Henry.

The speculation about Henry emerged while Baltimore dealt with injuries to its top two quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson and Tyler "Snoop" Huntley. Huntley is out for the season, while the Ravens hope Jackson can return later this season.

Jackson’s possible return also helped fuel Baltimore’s interest in former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett. The Ravens believe Brissett can keep the team competitive and in playoff contention until Jackson is ready to return.

Baltimore holds a 4-5 record and is not prepared to give up on the season. The Ravens maintained that approach despite a 33-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.

That result marked Baltimore’s third consecutive defeat by at least 20 points. According to the source, it was the first time in franchise history that the Ravens had lost three straight games by at least 20 points.

Henry addressed the struggling team after Thursday’s game, stressing that the Ravens need to "be better." He also said he had not spoken with management about being traded elsewhere.

"I have not mentioned me going anywhere else," Henry said. "I'm saying, 'Let's go back to work. Let's try to get better and turn this thing around.'"

Whether Brissett or Jackson is playing quarterback, Henry is expected to remain with Baltimore and support him. The Ravens’ position throughout the situation has been that Henry will stay rather than be moved before the deadline.

Baltimore is also entering what the source described as a more favorable portion of its schedule. The Ravens’ next game is against the last place Los Angeles Chargers on "Monday Night Football."

That matchup is followed by consecutive road games against the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans. Baltimore then has a bye week before returning home for a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Henry also reached a career milestone during Thursday’s game. He moved into seventh place on the NFL’s career rushing list by passing Jerome Bettis and LaDainian Tomlinson.

The veteran has accumulated 13,707 career rushing yards. Henry will have an opportunity this season to pass Curtis Martin, who has 14,101 rushing yards, for sixth place on the NFL’s career list.
