Meet Our Founder

Drew Berquist is more of a “never-was” than a “has-been” athlete who played under the legendary Corky Rogers in Jacksonville, FL before ultimately opting for a preferred walk-on spot at the University of Michigan.

During training camp in the fall of 1999 Berquist suffered a fractured vertebrae and slipped a disc in his lower back ending his failed time for the wolverines (he is in the team picture, but not on the final roster — what a loser — but he still loves the Maize and Blue).

Berquist attempted a resurgence of his career at Northern Arizona University, but missed his first season on account of the athletic department messing up paperwork thus leaving him eligible for the entire 2000 season (thanks a lot admin staff).

At any rate, he ended up moving home and studying international studies in the wake of 9/11 and then did over thirty deployments to the Middle East on behalf of the intelligence community (mostly with CIA) where he hunted down terrorists. But his true love was and remains to be sports…so here we are.

Oh that’s right,we almost forgot…he took a break from deploying and became a high school head coach and athletic director where he took a team in Florida on probation from recruiting violations (in fairness everyone does it) from a winless program to a 7-0 start in 2010, compiling two consecutive 7-3 seasons before returning to Afghanistan for a mission (yes, they called him back, and yes, it’s hard to leave the intel community)…and here we are now.

Watch Balls & Banter to get Drew’s passions and takes on the world of sports, news, and entertainment and beware…it’s not like most shows

Writers

Doug Douglason, aka Dougie Doug, is a die-hard sports enthusiast, unapologetic hot-take artist, and proud keyboard warrior for AirItOutBro.com. If there’s a game on, Doug’s watching it, breaking it down, and probably yelling at the TV like the coach can hear him. Equal parts fan, writer, and professional second-guesser, Dougie Doug lives for big plays, bad calls, and the kind of sports chaos that makes Mondays worth talking about.

Tuck Williams is a sports historian and writer for AirItOutBro.com known for his sharp sarcasm, unapologetic takes, and fact-first approach. He may not always tell fans what they want to hear, but he backs every argument with history, statistics, and context, not lazy narratives or emotional reactions. If there’s a bad take floating around in sports, Tuck is usually already a few numbers and a few decades ahead of it.
